Song deconstruction

I did the song I kissed a girl origionally by Katy Perry, covered by Attack Attack!

Attack Attack!'s version Listening Framework

Katy Perry's Listening Framework

The lyrics of this song are identical. They are both talking about kissing a girl and really liking it, even though they are in a relationship with a man. To me, that's a little scary seeing that the one band is made of all men. Anyway, they're saying women are attractive to both sexes. Men are attracted to them naturally, yet even straight women can become attracted to a woman.

The melodies are also the same. The melodies are based mostly off of a arpeggio. Which are thirds between notes and then the octave above.  For example a C chord is C E and G. With an arpeggio it is C E G and C.  The notes are played individually in that order usually. The notes aren't directly the same as an arpeggio, but they are close. The only difference in melody is in the Attack Attack! version, they scream the bridge making it the breakdown of the song.

The music quality of both songs are similar. They have the same structure. They have mostly the same melody. The rhythm of Attack Attack!'s version is faster and more upbeat as Katy Perry's is a medium speed with a light shuffle. The intensity of Attack Attack!'s version was more prominent than Katy Perry's. The speed was faster in Attack Attack!'s. The Timbre was different as well. Katy Perry's version was more pop as Attack Attack!'s was punk. I believe the pitch is higher in Attack Attack!'s version.

I believe both are good, but I prefer Attack Attack!'s version better because it is more upbeat and light hearted sounding. Both are good, and that is only my personal opinion.
